The Causes Of Lower Back And Hip Pain

Lower back and hip pain can be caused by a variety of reasons. The most common causes can be strain through exercise such as running. This can happen because the person over exerts themselves while running and strains their hip or back.It can also occur for as simple a reason as the wrong type of footwear being used for exercise.Running shoes are an important item to consider as they should absorb a sufficient amount of shock caused by running whilst providing a sturdy foundation for the body.Prolonged running sessions wearing poor quality running shoes can cause unnecessary stress and strain to the hip and lower back which leads to a large amount of pain.Another reason for lower back and hip pain could be a difference in the length of the legs which usually increases as a person ages.It may not be noticeable but can cause an imbalance of the body and lead to strain on the joints of one side of the body in particular. For those who want to know something about back pain, rehabilitation or physio Auckland, you can check online.

Other forms of exercise including dance in particular can also cause lower back and hip pain due to the flexibility needed and the amount of dance types that require hip twisting.Simply not warming up properly or over exertion in these areas can cause a lot of lower back and hip pain.Arthritis is another cause of lower back and hip pain because it affects the joints in particular, often making movement stiff and painful for the sufferer particularly in bad weather.Care must be taken in case it is an indication of a bigger problem. However, most of the causes of lower back and hip pain are generally pulled muscles and strains.

Prevention And Treatment Of Lower Back And Hip Pain
Lower back and hip pain has many causes and prevention is much better than the cure.Preventing this type of pain depends on the cause of the pain.  Making sure that you warm up thoroughly before any kind of exercise should decrease the chances of injury in these areas.Muscles are like rubber and need to be warmed up in order to have proper flexibility.Failure to warm up can strain the muscles and cause unnecessary pain.Investment in a decent pair of running shoes should negate the effects of shock on the body causes by exercise like running. This can provide a lot of protection from injuries that cause lower back and hip pain.

Treatment of lower back and hip pain can generally be as simple as applying heat or ice packs to the painful area regularly for a day or so after the injury occurs. This is useful for pain caused by exercise in particular as it tends to soothe swollen muscles and joints. It can also be useful in aiding lower back and hip pain caused by arthritis.Simple stretching exercises can also provide relief by gradually strengthening the muscles in the affected areas.Physiotherapy may be useful for the types of injuries that are not sufficiently cured by the use of heat packs or stretching exercises.A more prolonged form of exercise therapy may be useful in order to get the muscles and joints back into the condition they were in before the injury occurred.

THE TRUTH ABOUT MIGRAINES

Laypersons often us precise medical terms incorrectly. One example is narcolepsy, one of whose symptoms is Excessive Daytime Sleepiness. Many people are just very tired when they described themselves as having narcolepsy. Truly narcolepsy, however, is a much more serious condition. But I’ve heard radio advertising campaigns in which the radio commercials refer to someone who is “so tired they must be narcoleptic.”

Another example is the migraine headache. Many people believe a “migraine” is simply a very bad headache. They are mistaken.

A migraine is a splitting headache that just seems to set in apparently due to no reason at all. The reasons for a migraine are mainly vascular. That is, the brain experiences signals of pain as a result of changes in the blood supply from the blood vessels. Of course, the causes for the changes in the blood vessels may vary from person to person but this is generally how it starts.

Migraines affect 10 to 15 percent of the global population. Migraines usually begin in childhood or in adolescence. It’s most common among young adults and middle-aged people.

Migraines have a strong impact on the quality of a person’s life. they affect not only the person but also the lives of those who move in close contact with the person. Migraine attacks can some times be so severe that person may have to abandon his or her routine activities for three or four days at a stretch.

Once the pain of a migraine sets in, it is sheer agony. It’s like having one side of your head ripped off.

Migraines are transient; that the pain will go away after some time. After the person sleeps soundly for a few hours, this usually happens. But, unfortunately, migraines recur.

Many sufferers have a family history of migraine. But the precise hereditary nature of migraines is unknown. It is believed that people who suffer from migraines have inherited some abnormality that affects the regulation of their blood vessels.

So the next time you have a bad headache, take a pain killer. Complain about it loudly to the people around you. But don’t confuse a bad headache with a migraine.

Gout (sometimes called uric acid arthropathy) is a type of arthritis, is extremely painful, and is more prevalent in men than women. When women do develop the disease, it commonly occurs after the menopause.  Gout (sometimes called podagra) is also an inflammatory joint disease that commonly occurs after a build-up of uric acid in the body.  This buildup occurs either because the body produces an excess of uric acid or the system has trouble removing the excess.

A symptom of gout is a hot, painful, tender and swollen joint.  Some individuals can also develop a fever.  Many joints in the body can be affected, though normally it is the big toe that is most affected along with the elbows, knees, ankles and fingers.  Gout usually happens because of high rich food intake. People with diets rich in red meat, oily fish, yeast and internal organs (brains, liver or kidneys) raise the risk of gout.  Alcohol, especially beer increases risk of gout. Other factors such as trauma, IV contrast dyes, chemotherapy and some medications can also increase the level of risk.

There is not a cure for gout, but there are medications and dietary changes that can reduce the severity, frequency and duration of attacks.  Treatment is normally most effective when taken when the symptoms first occur.  Without treatment, gout will disappear on its own normally within 1 or 2 weeks.

To alleviate gout symptoms at home you can try the following treatments:-

  • Take the weight off the affected joint as much as possible
  • Move the joint so it is elevated above chest level
  • To relieve pain and reduce inflammation use ice
  • Take over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs such as Advil or Aleve as instructed on the bottle

Doctors usually prescribe these types of medicines to treat gout:-

  • For a more extreme case of gout a doctor may use Colchicine, mainly because if it’s powerful anti-inflammatory effects
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, referred to as NSAIDS
  • An injection straight into the affected joint with steroid hormones

Uricinex is a treatment for gout that can help relieve symptoms.  An individual will not just have gout once, after the initial attack, more attacks will usually appear.  To prevent repeat attacks of gout, diet changes are needed that will reduce the uric acid levels in the body.
